More Info

The town is set on large boulders of peperino and is protected to the south by walls interspersed with towers still all crowned with battlements, to the east, west and north by deep and wide ravines.

It is a predominantly hilly area rich in hazelnut groves, vineyards and olive groves. There is no shortage of oak woods and numerous and welcoming chestnut groves.

Inside the castle walls it preserves the typical medieval architecture with the characteristic houses, the towers, the alleys, the squares, the external stairs.

The village and its color are so special that Mario Monicelli, the great director of unforgettable films, chose it to shoot the scenes of “L’armata Brancaleone”, a 1966 film.

Few people know that in Vitorchiano there is the only Moai – the sculptures of Easter Island – existing outside the island.

Do not miss the traditional festivals that animate the village, such as that of Peperino in Fiore, at the beginning of June, which colors streets and houses with flowers, very animated and beloved, and that of Cavatello, in August, a triumph of water pasta and flour with fennel sauce.
