More Info
Wedged between Monviso and Monte Bracco, Paesana is located in the center of the Po valley. Divided into two villages, spread over the two banks of the Po and named after the two parishes of Santa Maria and Santa Margherita.
Definitely worth a visit are the two parish churches, the brotherhood of Santa Maria with frescoes by the local painter Giovanni Borgna, in the hamlet of Ghisola, full of buildings with ancient rustic shapes, Calcinere with the nineteenth-century church dedicated to Sant’Antonio Abate and its splendid Renaissance portal, and finally Agliasco, a locality located in a basin from which it is possible to admire a spectacular view of the Monviso. Going up the Croesio valley, you will then find the sanctuary of the Madonna dell’Oriente, a late-eighteenth-century building dedicated to the Annunziata.
Finally, interesting prehistoric testimonies are represented by a consistent group of rock carvings concentrated on the Bric Lombatera, in the Pian Munè area (1384 m).
