More Info

The city of Nizza Monferrato, in the oldest part, is triangular in shape with districts all in a straight line. The territory of Nizza Monferrato is distinguished by the large presence of historic buildings and churches of considerable value. You cannot miss a visit to the symbol of the town, the Campanone, a civic tower incorporated in the town hall, which contains a precious bronze bell which still tolls at all hours today. On the walls of the Campanone – north side – the signs of the siege that Nizza Monferrato underwent, in 1613, by the Savoyards are still visible today: the most attentive will notice a cannonball stuck in the wall.

Nizza and its fine Barbera wine were recognized as a UNESCO heritage site in 2014.

The municipality takes part in the Asti Palio, the historic horse-riding race that is the protagonist of the September of Asti.

An opportunity to taste all the Piedmontese types of Barbera DOC is during the Nizza è Barbera review, in May.

Nice is also the land par excellence of the hunchback thistle, protected by the specific Consortium, and of the white truffle, specialties that can be tasted during the “San Carlo Patronal Fair – Truffle and Hunchback Cardo Day” in November.

Furthermore, in this parking area, the Nicese Camper Club organizes every November a large gathering of campers to eat together one of the most famous dishes of the Piedmontese tradition: the Bagna Cauda. For the occasion, the Municipality of Nizza Monferrato also allocates the parking area adjacent to the area and a stretch of land along the river to campers, but it is still advisable to book a place.

Reservations also recommended for the traditional Nice Barrel Race, which takes place on 8 and 9 June.
