More Info

Arranged along the shore of Lake Varese, it is a town of ancient origins whose past is still little known. Its special features are that it has four independent town cores: Armino, Pozzolo, Fignano and Gavirate, as well as a market, the origin of which dates back to 1539, which as per tradition continues to be held on Fridays.

Gavirate is the ideal starting point for a nice bike ride to discover the beauty of Lake Varese, 30 km of bicycle and pedestrian path that runs flat around the entire perimeter of the lake, passing through the different villages. Sights include the Voltorre Cloister and the Pipa Museum in Gavirate, the icehouse in Bardello, the Brabbia Swamp in Inarzo, the Isolino Virginia with the Archaeological Museum and the pile-dwelling station in Biandronno, the little church of the Madonnina della Riva in Azzate, and the Tower in downtown Bodio. The trail is passable in any season of the year.
Those who are not biking can also resort to renting at the Lido in Gavirate.
There is no shortage of hiking trails in the nature trails leading to the Bardello Locks or Motta d’oro Pond.
